Also wanted to let you guys know (if you didn’t already) that there is a cool charity event going on right now called Catnip Carnival by Avatars for Animals. It was organized by Harlow Heslop, who just happens to be an amazing advocate for neglected animals. All the proceeds from this benefit will go to River Cities Humane Society for Cats. It’s a worthy cause to help save some of our furry friends, don’t you think? The Gos Lolita Espadrilles in these photos is just one of the awesome items available. I’ve been thinking a lot about dreams lately.  About how so often we become entangled in the day to day world of our careers and our commitment to meet others needs, that our own dreams get shifted to the wayside.

How beautiful, exciting and fulfilling the simplest thing can be when you shed the heaviness of the things that weigh you down and just focus on the beauty of the moment… even for just a little while.  Here’s to the dreamers.

How Soon is Now? Skin Fair Snow Rabbit Preview

That’s kind of the question I’ve been asking for months. Ever since I saw the WIP (work in progress) video of the Snow Rabbit mesh hybrid avatar. I’m going to try to explain it, but you really have to pop in to Skin Fair this weekend and see to believe!

Basically Nea is a beautiful mesh head that has an “animated” face. She smiles, blinks, closes her eyes and all without you having to click buttons to make her do so. Personally, I find the concept extremely amazing and with this first step, I think we are moving ever closer to truly realistic interactive avatars in Second Life. I’m looking forward to see what Snow Rabbit creator Shirousagi Noel does next to improve upon this idea.

Skin Fair Snow Rabbit Expressions

I’ve read and heard some things that I agree could be improved upon this idea: more subtle shading under the chin, better blending into the base skin at the neck, and the ability to change facial shadowing, nose shapes and lips to create a more unique look come to mind. But all in all, I think this is a solid first effort and I am extremely excited for the future of these avatars!

Slightly Off Balance

I’ve been slightly off balance lately with a lot going on in my real life but I think things will be evening out soon. Looks like I’m a little off balance in my Second Life too, huh?

Sorry if you are sick of me gushing over Jada’s work, but she is one of my favorites and there hasn’t been an outfit of hers in forever that I haven’t just adored.  My necklace is from Maxi Gossamer. I’m not sure if you know this or not, but Maxi is selling some of her designs in RL as well! Check out the post on her website!

Calling All You Angels

I love volunteering and helping people in my real life.  I don’t see why my Second Life has to be any different. I wouldn’t call it being selfless because, let’s face it, helping people makes me feel good! So, I definitely get something out of the bargain.

Today I’m issuing a call out to all of you, take some time tonight, or tomorrow and spend some time doing something kind for someone else. Whether it be volunteering some time, donating some money, purchasing items that benefit a worthy cause, or even just a kind word to someone who needs it, and may not be expecting it. I promise you’ll reap some hefty rewards. DOING GOOD, FEELS GOOD!

You can do some good for one of our own by visiting the Together for Sway event which begins on the 15th. Sway Dench, herself, created the beautiful angels you see pictured here. They perfectly invoke the spirit of the holidays, and are adorable enough to be left out all year ’round, just to remind you that there are angels out there. The necklace is another creation for TFS, from Noodles (I put the vendor ad below so you could get a closer look), and the hair is from Exile and is called “Sway My Way.” How cute is that? I also wanted to show off my new outfit from J.H. Couture. I LOVE buying things in Second Life, that I would wear in real life, and the Haifa outfit is definitely one of those. The skirt is the perfect length, not too long, and not hoochie short, which allows you to show a little skin with the low backed sweater. I’ve added Izzie’s black tights and the boots from Intrepid that I can’t seem to stop wearing :) The look is comfy, yet sassy. Just the way I like it!
